Notes From The Awareness: 227

Repetition deepens understanding.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. Life is a series of lessons. Sometimes we’re on an uphill climb; sometimes we’ve plateaued; sometimes we’re coasting downhill. But we’re never done with personal growth opportunities.

Some lessons are more demanding than others. They may touch on core issues or may require greater shifts in beliefs, thoughts, and behavior. When we’ve mastered this type of situation, we may feel relief that we’ll never need to repeat it. It may take some time, but often we’ll find ourselves facing a similar challenge yet again. We’re chagrined we have to wade through the lesson once more. We had though we were over it.

Today’s message reminds me that revelation is a gradual process. I’m usually not able to expand my heart’s and mind’s relationship to an issue in one pass. Like exercise or learning a musical instrument, repetition is required to build skill, strength, and flexibility. With each go-round of a lesson, I deepen my understanding of the issue on a mental, emotional, and spiritual level. I’m not repeating the lesson because I failed to learn it last time; I’m expanding on the success of my previous learnings.

How about you? How do you handle repeat lessons?
