NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 995

Honor the good ones.

We’ve all encountered beings who have that extra something special. They shine and glow, radiating goodness around them. They may be parents, partners, friends, bosses, or even pets. But they leave an impression on us, one of happy memories and gratitude.

Today, I went to the funeral of one of the good ones. She was bright, funny, gracious, insightful, and endlessly interested and caring about all those she encountered. I didn’t know her well, but all of our meetings were positive, so much so that my sense of her and our interactions remained vivid although I hadn’t seen her for a number of years.

Today’s message reminds me that I can mourn her loss—it’s sad to see such a bright light extinguished from existence. Or I can honor her memory by trying to emulate her best qualities. I can keep the good deeds of others alive long after their passing by repeating them.

Please reflect and share. Who might you wish to honor in this way and why?
